Global Mechanism (GM) /NGARA
- GOAL: NGARA is coordinating the formulation of a project entitled; Using Acacias in landscape management practices to mitigate land degradation reduce poverty and promote food security
- FUNDING: Through the Global Mechanism (GM) and implemented in 4 NGARA member countries namely; BURKINA FASO, ETHIOPIA, MALI and UGANDA
- APPROACH: NGARA is providing technical assistance and is responsible for overall administration of the 4 Working Groups in the participating countries.
- ACHIEVEMENTS: All 4 countries have produced country concept notes and
organized stakeholder’s workshops. GM and NGARA are now working on strategies for implementing the proposals at country and regional levels. GM and NGARA are now working on strategies for implementing the proposals which will contribute to national efforts for combating desertification through integration and improved management of economically and ecologically important dryland resources mainly gum Arabic, resins and associated drylands products.
